Cinnamon Storage
Cinnamon is easy to select and store. A simple sniff test will tell you if the cinnamon is still good. It should have a sweet scent, reminiscent of its unmistakable flavor. Cinnamon can be stored in either stick or powder form. Cinnamon sticks can keep for about a year, while ground cinnamon will lose its freshness after six months. The shelf life of both sticks and powder cinnamon can be extended by storing them in the refrigerator in a tightly sealed glass container. If refrigeration is not for you, then be sure to keep this spice in a cool, dry and dark space. Cinnamon oil should also be stored in a tightly sealed jar in a cool, dry and dark space.
