the many uses and benefits of cinnamon oil

Extracting Your Own Cinnamon Oil

Extracting your own essential oil is a very easy process and can be a worthy undertaking for those who want to use a lot of cinnamon oil. All that’s needed to extract cinnamon oil is a cooking pot and carrier oil. The first step is to decide which part of the plant you’d like to use, bark or leaf, and then to grind it. Place the ground up plant in a cooking pot with about two cups of carrier oil. On a medium heat bring the mixture to a simmer; this should take around three to five minutes. Once it’s simmering, remove the pot from the heat, as you want to avoid overheating the oil or it will damage the mixture. After the oil cools, strain it into another container for storage. Using a dark colored container will help protect the cinnamon oil from light, which will help it keep longer.
